A healthy living environment can have a positive impact on the health, wellbeing and quality of life of people, which is why considering the health of our environments is one of our top priorities. We support our clients in developing key life skills to help them understand the importance of up-keeping their home.

ACS Plus also incorporates Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE) and Trauma Informed Care (TIC) approach, both of which aim to improve the psychological and emotional well-being of people accessing and working within our services. At its most basic, PIE it is an environment that makes use of methods, which are informed by psychological theories and frameworks. These elements help our staff work more effectively with people who have complex and multiple needs, changing the way we understand and tackle their behaviour, in a measurable way. This approach focuses strongly on relationship building to promote recovery.

Other healthy living environment benefits:

  • helps our clients to be more independent
  • reduces service costs in terms of maintenance, cleaning and equipment
  • provides a homely environment for our clients and their visitors

  • more one-on-one, focused support time
  • make it easier to identify issues
  • promote more social cohesion between clients
  • help to build relationship development between staff and clients
  • make it less likely clients are ‘lost or hidden’
  • less chaotic, ensuring a more peaceful environment
